There are a number of factors that influence carrier rates, starting with the distance between loading and delivery. For example, transporting 2 pallets from the Loire Valley to Paris will be cheaper than sending the same goods from Bordeaux to Strasbourg. The type of goods, their volume, size and nature also have an impact on price. Bear in mind that at certain times of the year – summer and before Christmas, for example – carrier fares can rise.

Ad Valorem insurance compensates you on the basis of the actual value of your goods in the event of damage or loss during transport. We advise you to take out such insurance, because without it, you run the risk of receiving less compensation than you have lost.

When you use a carrier in Franche-Comté, Champagne or any other region in France, they will pay more or less charges depending on the price of fuel. The purpose of diesel indexation is to pass on cost variations, both upwards and downwards, according to changes in the price of fuel. The variation in cost between the date of the contract and the date of the service is shown at the foot of the invoice.

Euro standards set limits on pollutant emissions from heavy goods vehicles. In 2023, the Euro 6 standard is the latest and most stringent.

Courier transport involves moving goods within a short timeframe. The term “courier” is used for shipments with a total weight of less than 3 tonnes.

As glass wine bottles are fragile, we recommend careful packaging. Choose cardboard wine crates for vertical storage, preferably marked “this side up”. What’s more, to avoid thermal shock, it’s best not to have bottles transported during heatwaves. As soon as they are unloaded, place the crates horizontally so that the wine is in contact with the cork. Store them in a cool, damp place. Whether you need to transport wine to Bordeaux, Switzerland or anywhere else in the world, PHM Group has a solution for you. Our customers include many winegrowers.

Delivery times depend mainly on the geographical location of the sender and receiver, and the volume of goods to be shipped. For example, transporting paper between Brittany and Alsace will take longer than sending a parcel between Limoges and Bordeaux. National courier delivery times are generally between 24 and 72 hours, excluding appointments.

Cross-docking is a logistics technique that enables goods to be distributed without storage time or the intervention of an intermediary. This requires a suitable platform. For example, for a shipment from Limoges to the Basque Country, a carrier in the Limousin region can deliver the goods to a logistics platform near Bordeaux, where another driver will quickly pick them up and deliver them to their destination.
